The 16th Annual Schubert Chorale Summer Concert
The Schubert Chorale, 60 adult, college, and high school singers, presented "All Nature Sings" for its 16th Annual Summer Concert Celebration in August 2025.
The program began with Franz Schubert’s lively “Lebenslust” (“Zest for Life”), which likens personal connections with others to that of the turtle dove and his cooing mate. Next, the choir presented a set of three of Franz Joseph Haydn’s choruses from his oratorio The Creation, and two beautiful new works by Elaine Hagenberg, “The Blue Ridge,” which sings of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and “This Is My Father’s World.” Interspersed throughout the program, the audience had the opportunity to sing hymns and songs both familiar and new. The beauty of the islands and the ocean were featured in a medley from the musical South Pacific. The choir sang of the natural beauty found "from sea to shining sea" in “America, the Beautiful," and sang "All God's Critters Got a Place in the Choir." The program ended with “Beautiful Savior,” the signature closing song of the St. Olaf College Choirs.
